ALOHA!!

It's hard to believe we've already been here for 4 days and that it's almost time to move onto the Big Island. Here's a quick update. (I say quick because we're REALLY tired...You'll see why in just a second!)

So, our flight arrived nice and late Monday night and we had to race to the car rental place before they closed at 11pm. (We got in at 10:45!) I think we ended up at our house around 1:00am. Tuesday it rained like crazy, which was great timing because we just wanted to relax. Wednesday was our adventurous drive down Hana Hwy. I think they said something like 613 turns and 200 or so one lane bridges. It was beautiful. Tons of waterfalls. (and somewhat scary at times :) Yesterday we all went on a snorkel tour around the island of Lanai and then rested/shopped the rest of the afternoon. (That's one thing we noticed, most tours all start bright and early...6:30-7:00ish!) I have to say that I'm so proud of my dad, he even came out snorkeling with us...and we even got to see some dolphins. And today was great too. We woke up at 2:30 this morning to drive up to the summit of Mt. Haleakala. Everyone here stressed how amazing it is and said it's worth the early morning. We got to the summit around 4:30 and saw the most incredible view of the stars! Unbelievable! I can't even describe it! The sunrise was quite impressive too...but crazy cold and windy! We needed to wear layers just like back home! Afterwards, Colin, Kristy and I did a zipline tour. Very fun! 5 ziplines and a 160 foot swinging bridge. After a busy morning we still made it back to our house at 11am and still had a full day to play in the pool, sleep, shop and relax. Finally this evening we got all dressed up and went to a Lu'au in Lahaina. Great show, amazing hula dancers! :)

These were all taken the day we drove to Hana. The colorful tree is the Rainbow Eucalyptus. It's so unreal! The picture of Colin is him swimming in a lava cave. Apparently the water was FREEZING but it was SO clear.

These were taken the day we took the rafting tour around Lanai. Some fun snorkeling and a spinner dolphin.

And last but not least...The amazing sunrise breaking through the clouds, the super fun zipline tour and the lu'au on the beach.
